At Oxford Bariatric, we are very aware that the cost of weight loss surgery is an important factor. For many people, bariatric surgery is affordable because it is covered by their health insurance plan. However, people who do not have insurance coverage for bariatric surgery must pay for it on their own. This is called self-pay or cash-pay. The majority of people feel that the surgery is worth the investment to their health and seek out alternative financing options. From a health standpoint, no better investment can be made than alleviating obesity.
If you do not have health insurance coverage for bariatric surgery and the cash payment is not an option, there are alternative financing options available, such as Care Credit. Some patients have found that their credit union or local bank will provide financing for a health cost loan. Some have used a second mortgage to finance their surgery. Also, our clinic accepts Visa and Mastercard for surgical fees. Please contact our insurance coordinator to further discuss payment options.
The expense of weight loss surgery may qualify for deductible medical expenses on your tax return. Please consult your income tax advisor for additional information.
Few people realize that the cost of weight loss surgery is relatively small compared to obesity-related costs. Please listen to our Podcast regarding making the investment to improve your health.
