Oxford Bariatric, General and Metabolic Surgery, PLLC , formerly known as The Surgical Clinic of North Mississippi, LLC, was established in Oxford, MS in 1981 as a private practice of General Surgery. Through the years, under the innovative leadership of Dr. Michael King, we have expanded the practice to develop a premier bariatric center, along with an outstanding general surgery clinic.
Our physician, Dr. Michael L. King, FACS, FASMBS, is the Medical Director of Bariatric Services at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North MS, and one of the leading and most experienced bariatric surgeons in Mississippi. He has been nationally recognized for high quality care and surgical excellence in bariatric surgery.
Our office has been deemed a Center of Excellence by the American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery, and Dr. King is the Designated Center of Excellence Surgeon. Dr. King introduced Laparoscopic and Open Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass to the north Mississippi area. He was also the first bariatric surgeon in the area to perform laparoscopic adjustable gastric band surgery, both the LAP-BAND® and the REALIZE™ Band, as well as the laparoscopic Gastric Sleeve.
Dr. King is known throughout not only for his skill, but as a surgeon with integrity, character, and compassion. His record speaks to the exceptional and dedicated care that he extends each patient. Dr. King is also known for his accomplishment and expertise in general and laparoscopic surgery.
The staff of Oxford Bariatric is distinguished by their friendly, welcoming, and supportive interaction with our patients. The clinical staff is well trained to assist the physician and provide excellent patient education during the pre-operative and post-operative periods. Our compassionate staff is a team of medically trained professionals who focus on working closely with the physician to meet the wide range of patient needs. In addition to their formal training, our surgical nurses have over 22 years of surgical experience.
The clerical staff offers years of experience in patient advocacy and working with insurance companies to help patients receive the benefits they deserve. The entire staff of Oxford Bariatric is dedicated to patient sensitivity, continuing patient education and comprehensive patient care.
