Karen S. “Micki” Johnson, R.N.
Office Manager
Mrs. Johnson is a registered nurse with 22 years of experience in surgery, clinical procedures and patient education. Her knowledge & skill in the medical field, as well as her expertise in working with insurance companies regarding requirements for bariatric surgery, is a tremendous asset to our patients and our clinic.
For 14 yrs., Mrs. Johnson has been instrumental in helping Dr. King develop and evolve the bariatric program for our clinic as a pioneer and leader in weight loss surgery in Mississippi. She was responsible for the preparation of the Center of Excellence certificate in 2005 and presently develops Clinical Pathways for the Center of Excellence program. Striving for excellent patient care, Mrs. Johnson is an active member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and regularly attends bariatric continuing education courses to stay abreast of current issues. She is also devoted to and directs annual Sensitivity Training for our clinical staff.
Mrs. Johnson, or “Micki” as she will become known to you, is a caring, sincere and knowledgeable clinical nurse. She will be your constant source of support and encouragement throughout your journey.
Robin McDonald, R.N., C.B.N.
Certified Bariatric Nurse
Mrs. McDonald is a registered nurse with 15 years of surgical and clinical experience. She has worked with Dr. King for 9 years, assisting him in general and bariatric surgery. Robin is certified by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery as a Certified Bariatric Nurse and regularly attends ASMBS conventions and continuing education courses. She has played a vital role in the development of the clinic as a leading surgical weight loss center. As the clinical nurse of the bariatric program, Robin works with the patient to coordinate all aspects of the pre-operative and post-operative treatment. She assists the patients in the scheduling of nutritional and psychological screenings, pre-operative lab and X-ray testing and the actual bariatric surgery. Robin assists Dr. King in the operating room, the hospital ward and in our surgical clinic. Her vast experience in the field of surgical weight loss and her compassionate, professional care will inspire you as you develop your healthy lifestyle.
Lori Benefield
Insurance & Bookkeeping Coordinator
Mrs. Benefield is an honor graduate of Louisiana Business College with over 17 years of experience in patient relations and health-care services. She is well skilled and has worked in numerous capacities within medical offices, including scheduling, coding, bookkeeping, accounting, insurance duties, and hands-on patient care. Her knowledge regarding the flow of information with insurance companies makes her a strong patient advocate. Lori works with patients in effecting financial arrangements for surgery. Her skill is an asset to our clinic and to each patient as she verifies bariatric criteria and investigates specific benefits within the individual policies. Her caring sensitivity, her gentle nature and her talent for communication make her an understanding and helpful liaison throughout the weight loss journey.
Ginger Dix
Reception/ Patient Coordination Administrator
Mrs. Dix brings to our practice an outstanding background in business administration, with emphasis on communication. She received her Business Administration degree from Northeast Community College and has over 14 years experience within health-care facilities. Ginger has worked in all capacities of a medical practice, including employee training and evaluation, interaction with insurance companies, computer skills and scheduling. Ginger is certified as an Emergency Medical Telecommunicator and a member of the National Association of Health-care Access Management Certification. Ginger’s background shows in her strength of communication with our patients. Her welcoming smile is the first smile you will encounter when you enter Oxford Bariatric, and that smile will assure you that Ginger understands the importance of excellent patient service.
Angie Dorris
Transcription/Bariatric Patient Assistant
Mrs. Dorris contributes to our clinic over eleven years of experience in the medical field. She is an honor graduate with an Associates degree of Applied Science, with emphasis on Medical Technology. Angie has worked in many capacities of the health-care services. She is proficient in her skill with medical spreadsheets, documents and transcription. Angie is also effective as a voice for our patients with the insurance companies. She is instrumental in clinical patient care for consultations and the scheduling of medical procedures. She has years of experience in customer service on the front line, as well as patient care in the clinical setting. Angie is a gentle and caring individual with an infectious sense of humor. She will be a loyal friend dedicated to “making you smile” and helping you achieve results with your healthier and happier lifestyle.

Nancy Carole King, B.A., M.A.
Marketing Director
Mrs. King has been actively involved with the development of our clinic as a foremost surgical weight loss center for over 20 years. She is a graduate of the University of Mississippi, with training in Speech Pathology & Audiology. Throughout the years, she has served in numerous capacities from clerical duties to practice marketing. Nancy Carole is an active supporter of health and fitness as a lifestyle. She has served as a patient advocate at the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery conventions throughout the years and participated in the Walk from Obesity in Washington, D.C. Nancy Carole’s responsibilities with the program include bookkeeping, website development and management, marketing and public relations activities.
Leslie Case Kennedy, RD,LD
Consultant Registered Dietitian
Leslie Kennedy is a graduate of the University of Mississippi, with a Bachelor’s degree in Science. She attended Marywood University, where she completed a Distance Dietetic Internship. In 2004, Leslie became a Registered Dietitian. She has been working in health and fitness for over twenty one years, with experience in health, nutrition and exercise. As a Registered and Licensed dietitian, she works as both a long term, acute care, and a consultant dietitian. Her interests with health and weight do no stop at diet alone. She is a certified personal trainer and an aerobic instructor. Leslie believes strongly in the saying, “practice what you preach.” She has owned her own wellness center and has been involved in fitness since the eighties. Her primary interests are in weight loss and winning the fight against obesity. Leslie is available to work directly with individuals who are considering weight loss surgery, both pre-operatively and post-operatively.
Leslie has worked as a Long-term Dietitian for North Mississippi Regional Center since 2003. She also works as a part-time consultant Dietitian with both Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi and Crandall Corporate Dietitians.
